1. Practice
the universal Loving Kindness (meditation) exercise on p. 93.
2. Complete
the Integral Assessment discussed in chapter 11 (p.115).
3. Describe
the exercise and assessment process. What did you discover about yourself? What
area have you chosen to be a focus of growth and development? Why? What are
some specific exercises or activities that you can implement to foster greater
wellness in this area?
So, it was kind of like
praying but I don’t think I made it a full ten minutes. I did have a little
trouble with the word “all.” There are just so many people in the world that it
is hard to wrap my head around. The assessment was harder. For one thing, I do
not feel like sharing personal stuff right at this moment. And for another, it
is kind of hard to concentrate (not to mention type) with my finger throbbing. So,
I am not going to post particulars of what I discovered about myself (although
I think on some level I was already aware of it).
Area to be a focus of growth
and development: interpersonal. I need to get out of the house and get involved
in something in my community. I was thinking of looking for volunteer
opportunities – there’s got to be a few good websites for that sort of thing.
Something that pulls me out of my comfort zone a little bit which shouldn’t be
hard because my comfort zone is pretty small. This last week I called an old
friend that I had kind of lost touch with who was always able to get me to do
things I wouldn’t otherwise do (but not in a bad way) maybe she will have some
ideas too.
I am glad you decided to share some things about yourself I know you did not get into the good stuff. But as you see you have opened up and gave us all something. I too have gotten a hold of friends that I have not heard from in awhile I don't know if it is because of this class or the fact that I was thinking of her and her family for quite a while now. Great post keep up the good work and you will do great in giving more personal details about you.
ReplyDeleteHi Wren,
ReplyDeleteYour friend probably knows how to explain things to you in such a way as to help you over the hump that is stopping you. It is nice to have such a friend. Not aggressiver but assertive.
I don't post too personal of things in the blog either as even after I delete my blog site, it is still out there somewhere. From my understanting, what is posted on the internet is never completely gone.
I had to change some of the wording to do this exercise. The results were the same. I do not like the word "All" either as it is too abstract. It is like trying to say to visualize a million marbles. But if it says to include everyone in your community -- that is a number I can wrap my brain around.

I have to admit. I didn't make it the full ten minutes. The word all was kind of tough for me, too. Maybe Dacher wanted us to acknowledge all of the suffering in the world and then do our part in our world. No one can relieve the suffering of the whole world, but if each of us take care of our world then, as a whole, we can make a difference.
